Kathmandu, March 10: A high-level meeting of the government has decided to develop a detailed masterplan for integrated development of Narayanhiti Museum, Keshar Mahal and the newly-constructed Republic Memorial.
The meeting held on Tuesday was attended by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai, Chief Executive Officer of the National Reconstruction Authority Sushil Gyewali and Chief Political Advisor of the Prime Minister Bishnu Rimal, among others.
Prior to taking the decision, the participants had conducted an observation tour of the Narayanhiti Museum premises and Republic Memorial.
Others taking part in the meeting were NRA Secretary Shiva Hari Sharma, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Joint Secretary of the Culture Division of the Ministry Suresh Acharya, Director General of the Department of Archaeology Damodar Gautam and Executive Director of Narayanhiti Museum Bhesh Narayan Dahal.
The NRA will lead the development of the masterplan.
Currently, the retrofitting of Keshar Mahal is taking place. Similarly, some of the structures inside Narayanhiti Museum damaged in the earthquake are also being reconstructed.
