Kathmandu, November 15: The first meeting of the International Conference Organizing Committee on Nepal's Reconstruction was held here today. The meeting has discussed nomination of representatives from various sectors and various other preparations for the conference.
The meeting has given a full shape to the committee by selecting five representatives from various development partners, and five persons from civil society, academic sector, private sector, mass media and non-governmental organizations.
The representatives of the Development Partners will be selected by the Development Assistance Coordination and Facilitation Committee under the NRA.
The international conference is going to be organized in Kathmandu in November 2020 with an objective to share and document the knowledge, learning and experience of the post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation with the international community.
Secretary of the Conference Secretariat Manohar Ghimire said that the meeting had given responsibility to propose the editorial board to be formed for the selection and approval of research materials and working papers to be presented in the conference, the thematic committees and the former reviewers. The meeting has consented to have an open call for the matter focused on the five main thematic areas to be focused in the conference.
Ghimire has said that the five thematic interactions will be held in Nov-Dec, 2019, Dec-Jan 2019/2020, and Jan-Feb, 2020 for the thematic discussions of the matter to be presented in the conference sessions.
Chair of the organizing committee and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Sushil Gyewali said the conference is being organized to ensure collective memory of the learning and the experience of reconstruction and rehabilitation, and stressed that the support from all sectors is required to make the program a success.
During the meeting, Coordinator of the Conference Secretariat and Executive Committee Member of the NRA Dr. Chandra Bahadur Shrestha presented the agenda of the program.
The NRA Executive Committee Members Dhruba Prasad Sharma and Dr. Bishnu Bahadur Bhandari, Secretary of the Office of the Prime minister and Council of Ministers Mahendra Prasad Guragain, Joint-Secretary at the same office Keshar Raj Acharya, Joint-Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Narayan Duwadi, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration Jaya Narayan Acharya were also present at the meeting.
Others participating in today’s meeting were CDE of Ministry of Urban Development Chakra Warti Kantha, NRA Joint Secretaries Pitambar Ghimire, Bharat Prasad Aryal and Gopal Prasad Aryal, Project Director of the NRA’s Central Level Project Implementation Unit (Education) Chuda Mani Paudel, Deputy Project Director of the Central Level Project Implementation Unit (Building) Koshnath Adhikari, Deputy Project Director of Central Level Project Implementation Unit (Grants Management and Local Infrastructure) Narayan Shrestha.
