Kathmandu, July 8 : President Bidya Devi Bhandari laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) headquarters in Baluwatar today.
Addressing the function, President Bhandari expressed confidence that the new building to be constructed would have modern amenities and would reflect Nepal's national pride.
Minister for Finance Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada said the whole economy is in the phase of reconstruction and added that the new building of NRB would have the same looks as before but would be stronger and have more facilities. He also expressed confidence that the services provided by the Bank would be more effective.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Sushil Gyewali informed that the new building would be constructed as per the requirement of NRB and that it would meet the security and quality standards. He said that there had been significant progress in post-earthquake reconstruction and expressed commitment to complete the reconstruction of NRB building, too, within the stipulated deadline.
Governnor of NRB Dr. Chiranjivi Nepal informed that the reconstruction of NRB offices in Thapathali was going on and expressed joy that the foundation had been laid for the reconstruction of NRB headquarters. He thanked everyone who enabled the environment for the building reconstruction.
The reconstruction cost of NRB is Rs. 1.862 billion, exclusive of the Value Added Tax. CICO Samanantar JV has got the contract for the building reconstruction.
The target is to complete the building reconstruction within the coming 27 months.
