Kathmandu, May 29: The government has allocated Rs. 141 billion for the post-earthquake reconstruction. Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, in his budget speech in the Federal Parliament today, announced the budget allocation for the year 2076/77.
Minister Khatiwada said that the government has aimed to complete the private housing reconstruction within this fiscal year. For the reconstruction of private housing, the government has allocated Rs. 58.73 billion.
Similarly, he informed that the necessary budget has been allocated to complete the reconstruction of historical and cultural heritage sites within the next two years.
In the budget, it has also been stressed that the reconstruction of under-construction schools and those that are yet to start reconstruction will be speeded up. The reconstruction of these educational institutions will be done in cooperation with the local communities.
