Kathmandu, June 28: The members of a sub-committee of the International Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives visited the construction sites of Dharahara and Ranipokhari to acquire the first-hand information on its status on June 26.
Those visiting were the members of the sub-committee on studying and monitoring of cultural monuments listed under the World Heritage Sites.
During the visit, the federal parliamentarians inquired about the impact of the lockdown due to spread of coronavirus. They also assured to provide necessary facilitations to complete the construction of these historic sites.
Senior Divisional Engineer of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Dhruba Poudel requested the visiting parliamentarians to facilitate the return of skilled workers who had been working before in Dharahara reconstruction. He said the construction would move ahead smoothly if only we could bring back about 100 skilled workers out of 250 who had been working before the lockdown.
Those visiting included Chairperson of the International Affairs Committee Pabitra Niraula Kharel, Chairperson of the sub-committee Sujita Shakya and parliamentarians Uma Regmi, Narad Kumari Rana, Bodhmaya Kumari Yadav and Sarala Kumari Yadav.
